For as long as I can remember I’ve had something of a passion for design. From an early age I spent much of my time drawing and dreaming up characters and ideas for video games (yes, I know I’m an übergeek). This creative streak grew and refined through to my adult life, eventually allowing me to partner my childhood love of drawing crazy monsters with a first-class BA degree in media design and Japanese language.
I have gained more than 5 years of design experience both academically and professionally and, applying the best practices that I learned at University, I started Kumori Media with the aim of sharing my creativity with others to produce clean, stylish and accessible designs.
In 2008, following the completion of a series of projects for companies in South Wales and swapping Pen-Y-Fan for Mount Fuji, I skipped the country and emigrated to Japan where I joined the creative team at Sakura-House. Just as with my work, I don’t like doing these sorts of things by halves so rather than simply take a plane to Japan, I hopped on a train from Abergavenny to Tokyo (or perhaps I should say: a series of trains, one ferry and two weeks).
After a year of designing my way around Tokyo, developing some mad karaoke skills and doing a very brief stint as a model for UniQlo (seriously!) After a 2 year stint in Liverpool I have now relocated to Cardiff, where I can often be found swigging root beer and working at my laptop in the New York Deli.
As well as designing for the internet, I spend a lot of time listening to music (why, not 9 days ago I listened to 'On The Run' by Gramatik), reading blogs, learning new skills and generally keeping up to date with what is going on in the world of webdesign.
Naturally, I like to join in and you can find my ramblings on the Kumori Media Twitter feed!
